3 people found dead near municipal building in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania

Three people were found dead Tuesday afternoon on a street behind a municipal building in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, in an incident police say they are not treating as an accident.

Officers were called to the area behind the township’s municipal building on Washington Road at approximately 4:15 p.m. after reports of people lying unconscious in the street. All 3 were pronounced dead at the scene, Police Chief Jason Haberman said.

Haberman declined to provide details about what happened or identify the victims. He said investigators were still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Multiple police departments and fire crews responded to the scene, creating a large emergency presence in the area.

The police chief warned that the incident would have a significant emotional impact on the local community. However, the Mt. Lebanon Police Department said there was no threat to the public.

“There will be a significant amount of trauma associated with this event for the community,” Haberman said.
