RJ Mitte, the actor best known for playing Walter White Jr. on the hit television series “Breaking Bad,” has died at age 34, according to TMZ.
Mitte died in Brownsville, Texas, his representatives said in a statement. No cause of death was immediately released.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his representatives said, according to Deadline.
TMZ separately reported that a county official confirmed Mitte’s death and that he died by suicide. Law enforcement officials told the outlet that the death investigation remains ongoing.
Mitte became widely known for playing Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character, on “Breaking Bad.” He appeared in 56 episodes of the AMC series, which aired from 2008 to 2013.
Like his character, Mitte had cerebral palsy. He used his platform to raise awareness about disabilities and push for greater inclusion and representation in the entertainment industry.
Beyond acting, Mitte served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s. He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, which supports charitable efforts and community initiatives.
His acting credits included “The Oak Room,” “The Recall” and “The Guardians of Justice,” along with other television and film projects.
Mitte also spoke publicly about the challenges disabled actors face in Hollywood, calling for more opportunities and an end to stereotypes surrounding people with disabilities. He became engaged to Kennedy Suarez in October 2025 after several years of dating.
His representatives have asked for privacy for his family as they mourn his death. Authorities have not publicly released further details about the investigation.
