A person was shot during an ICE-involved shooting in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City on Thursday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
The shooting happened shortly after 4 p.m. The NYPD said federal law enforcement agents were involved and that no NYPD officers were at the scene or involved in the shooting.
The person who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital and was conscious while receiving medical treatment, police said.
City officials were told ICE had been using a Target parking lot on 225th Street as a staging area.
Council Member Carmen De La Rosa said officials had confirmed ICE activity in the area and reports of shots being fired.
“There are confirmed ICE sightings and shots fired in Marble Hill. We are in touch with authorities to get further details,” De La Rosa said.
