A 50-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with a 2012 kidnapping in Iowa was arrested Tuesday in San Diego after nearly 14 years on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals.
Brian Anthony Williams was found at a business in the 3700 block of Mission Boulevard in Mission Beach by U.S. Marshals and taken into custody.
Williams was charged in Scott County, Iowa, on Oct. 26, 2012, over his alleged role in an Oct. 8 assault in Davenport. Authorities say Williams and other co-conspirators kidnapped and assaulted a woman, shot her and left her in a field in northwest Davenport.
He was charged with first-degree kidnapping, willful injury causing serious injury, conspiracy to commit a felony and first-degree arson.
In 2013, Williams was also charged in the Southern District of Iowa with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Williams remains in U.S. Marshals custody while awaiting extradition to Iowa.
The Davenport Police Department later asked the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force to help locate him. Williams remained a fugitive for years and was featured on local news stations in the Quad Cities as a most-wanted fugitive.
In September 2026, investigators developed information that Williams was living in San Diego under the alias “Troy Williams.” Authorities said he was working as a chef and had appeared in local publications and television reports under the assumed name. Williams was working as the head chef at Miss B’s Coconut Club in Mission Beach, according to FOX 5 San Diego,
“This arrest is a perfect example of those who think they have bested law enforcement and evaded arrest,” U.S. Marshal Ted Kamatchus of the Southern District of Iowa said.
