Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place at a K-8 school near Palermo and Oroville, California, on Wednesday afternoon, according to Butte County officials. The incident left two children injured, and the suspect has been confirmed dead.

The shooting occurred around 1:00 p.m. at the Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists, located at the intersection of Cox Lane and Highway 70, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea reported.

Sheriff Honea confirmed that two children were shot and transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

The suspect was found deceased at the scene from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities believe they have identified the individual, though no further details have been released.
