The United States is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $725 million, according to Reuters. The Biden administration plans to deliver the assistance before the end of President Joe Biden’s term.
The new package will include advanced anti-tank weapons from U.S. stockpiles, such as landmines, drones, Stinger missiles, and ammunition for HIMARS rocket artillery systems. A formal notification to Congress about the planned aid could happen as early as next Monday, although the final contents and size of the package may change before the president’s approval.
So far, military support, including HIMARS systems, has played a key role in enabling Ukraine to repel Russian forces. The new supplies aim to sustain Ukraine’s defensive capabilities and reduce Russia’s military advantage. This package is also one of the final initiatives of the Biden administration to strengthen Ukraine’s position before the next administration takes office.
