Authorities in West Chester Township, Ohio, are actively searching for 7-year-old Joshua Altheef Jr., who disappeared near his residence on Wyndtree Drive, according to local officials. Officials are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact 911 immediately.
Joshua was last spotted around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he was dropped off by his school bus near his home. Local journalist Paige A. Barnes reports that Joshua’s parents had left him under the supervision of an adult sibling, but he went missing shortly after.
Described as a Black male, Joshua is 4 feet tall and weighs 44 pounds, according to the West Chester Police Department. He has autism, is non-verbal, and was last seen wearing a tan shirt, tan pants, a black jacket, and Nike sneakers in black, red, and white.
Officials note that Joshua may not respond to his name and say he is known to like water and parks.
“Countless Police and Fire personnel and resources are aiding in the search,” the West Chester Township Government stated in a social media post on Wednesday night. “Residents in the area are encouraged to check their property.”
